Wild Man

Ahhh Titus,
Little climber, conqueror... Not even the inside of a dishwasher seems to frighten you. Ever searching for new frontiers and untouched wild places... Like behind the toilet for instance. Or Mommy's purse. You've climbed the dizzying heights of the kitchen table and found treasures untold on formerly unreachable nick knack shelves. But nothing beats the excitement of realizing you could "scoot" a stool or ladder of your own liking to the trash and dig out any snack your heart desired! Who knew that chewed up pretzels made a wonderful media for your creative designs on the cry room window at church. Or that spitting after receiving the Eucharist could send the priests scurrying! I love you! God love you. God help me!!! :)

A Day Worth Waiting For

The day of our Chrismation happened in mid-September (we are just now getting our pics back) on the feast of "The Elevation of the Cross." Much like our wedding day, highly anticipated yet barely remembered, it flew by with lighting speed and was laden with emotion. My mother in law Robin was also Chrismated with us which was an honor.

We were also quite blessed by our choice of God parents for all of our children. Ella's God mother Shannon is an old friend from college whose husband Eric happens to be my husband's best friend! Wyatt and Titus' God parent's are Matthew and Catherine Namee. Dear "cradle" Orthodox friends who've taught us so much about the faith. They've all been an excellent role model for our children and we were delighted they were able to share in our blessed day.

Though I wish I could remember the holiest of moments in which we became Orthodox, there are other memories that stopped time and had us rolling on the floor...

Such as:
When we discovered that the hot water wasn't working in the baptismal fount (Luckily, only the kids had to endure this. Isn't that cruel of me to say so?)...
When we then discovered the plug released on it's own in the baptismal fount. When this was discovered, we had to race to get the kids undressed and baptised before the water was completely gone!
The grimace on Father Paul's face as he tried to dip our naked boys in the very low, cold pool of water...
When my sponsor Traci's wax catcher on her candle caught fire creating a huge flame...
And finally, twenty or so of our closest friends gathered around a table eating Pad Thai.

What a blessed day!

A Pile of Hair

So I knew it was time to cut Wyatt's hair when the kindly man at church who handed us a bulletin told me what a cute little girl I had. I didn't realize the extent of which my neglecting to trim his hair in a timely manner might damage a his masculinity! :) Wyatt is the only one of my three cubs whose manes grew quickly thus making me loathe to cut it. But I do have to say he looks quite dapper now! On a funny side note; when Ella was around the same age with no hair, I'd attempt to erase all questions that might arise on her gender by an abundance of pink and a little "clippy" in her hair.
We were on a walk when an older gentleman asked, "Why on earth would you put a bow in the poor little boy's hair?" Yes, he actually said that!

The Anatomy of Clean Up Time

There's no where else I'd rather be; nothing else I'd rather be doing....

Except maybe lying on the beaches of Maui... getting a manicure... while drinking champagne....

There, I said it. :)
